Product Development Manager

Job summary

Our client, a Greater North American garment manufacturer, is looking for Product Development Manager to join their dynamic team in Ho Chi Minh City. 

Job Responsibilities

• Perform and oversee Initial and Technical Design, Product Development and Fit Conformity across all gender apparel categories
• Using existing product specifications, patterns, grade rules and individual user measurements, create and oversee the creation of patterns for made-to-measure garments for North American clients 
• Partner and communicate in English with North American colleagues from business development, account management, product development, supply chain and quality to ensure products are designed and developed to meet clients’ and internal requirements
• Create and lead the creation of initial apparel design concepts inspired by both written and graphic inspirations and requirements
• Convert and oversee the conversion of initial product designs into technical drawings
• Create and manage the creation of English language product technical packages
• Partner with global manufacturing resources, particular the company’s factories in Vietnam to ensure product technical packages are accurate for quality production
• Provide operational oversight, detailed tracking, and direction to inform business decisions with accurate and timely information
• Design, document, and implement operational workflows; oversee onboarding and training within the Vietnam product design and development team
• Continuously seek process improvement and better ways of working both within the team and cross functionally
• Ensure company and client standards are met and consistently followed
• Develop department and team KPIs that align to company objectives
• Participate in regular English language conferences with partner teams in HQ
• Domestic and international travel required

Experience requirements

• Min. 10 years working experience in technical design, product development, and fit conformity to drive the commercialization for garment products. Experience in North American market is a plus. 
• Experience in modifying existing patterns for made-to-measure requirements
• Willingness to work independently initially and build a team from the scratch.
• Excellent problem-solving and sound decision-making abilities to solve organizational needs with technology, process, and planning
• Flexible, embraces change and excels in a fast-paced environment
• Relentless attention to detail with exceptional organizational skills
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Proficiency in English both speaking and writing.

Education requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent working experience within product design and development
