Job summary

Our client - one of the largest electronics manufacturers in the south of Vietnam is looking for a highly competent Technical Purchasing Supervisor to join their supply chain team in Vietnam.

Job Responsibilities

General Supervision:


  • Overall responsibility for supervising the TP team to ensure timely delivery of assigned tasks, both for the team and individual tasks.

Order Handling:


  • Source and purchase complex items for EE and OA operations.
  • Ensure the ordering of materials, parts, and equipment follows company policies, such as Just-In-Time (JIT) and Request for Quotation (RFQ).
  • Collaborate with EE and OA teams to establish and develop relevant policies, procedures, documentation, and reporting.

Supplier Management:


  • Search for new suppliers for projects and lead discussions in collaboration with Project Engineer/Manager.
  • Negotiate best prices and terms/conditions, considering the balance of technical and commercial aspects for Project Manager’s decision making.
  • Supervise and support the TP team in following up, pushing, and challenging suppliers in case of delays in deliveries.
  • Collaborate with EE and OA teams to set up a supplier base, competency matrix, and vendor rating.
  • Maintain strong and positive business relationships with suppliers.

Team Management:


  • Effectively lead the TP team, ensuring proper resource allocation, team building, motivation, coaching, and performance evaluation.
  • Coordinate with various teams for continuous improvements, problem-solving, and consultancy.

Other Responsibilities:


  • Read and understand mechanical drawings and documents.
  • Perform tasks connected with purchasing and cooperation with suppliers and other departments.
  • Proactively receive, search, learn, and comply with prevailing laws and company regulations communicated through internal channels.
  • Attend relevant training courses on Quality Management, Environment, Occupational Health & Safety, and other required areas.

Experience requirements

  • Preferably experience in end-to-end technical procurement within manufacturing environment
  • Good English skills, commercial analysis and negotiation
  • Strong collaboration with internal & external stakeholders
  • Read and understand technical drawing
  • Technical and engineering knowledge (such as machine construction and programing, technology, production engineering)
  • Basic knowledge about available automation systems in a market (vision system, robots, linear drive, PLC, etc.)
  • Market knowledge in electronics/ mechanical parts, is an advantage.

Education requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering background (Automation, Mechanical, EE, etc.)
