Job Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership
- Responsible for developing business development strategies that are aligned to organizational goals and objectives in support of growth and expansion plans.
- Maintains knowledge of key trends and identifies key organizational levers to support the expansion plans (new products and markets) and growth of the business in the mid to long term.
- Responsible for communicating the strategic objectives and key initiatives of Business Development to obtain commitment and buy-in from key stakeholders within the organization.
- Oversee the annual budget exercise for the function and work with the Finance/Controller as appropriate.
- Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for the conduct of feasibility studies for new business opportunities including new products and new markets.
- Lead new business development initiatives identified and work with key representatives from various Functions in the implementation and tracking of key milestones.
- Responsible for spearheading the new product profit and income, which includes managing and growing sales in each business group.
- Responsible for leading, managing, and growing various pilot initiatives. This includes overseeing the day-to-day operations of the new products which are in their pilot phase:
- Identifying and sourcing for merchandise to be sold.
- Canvassing to increase customers.
- Engaging and enhancing relationships with suppliers/principals.
- Collaborate with Business Group/Branch Director to transfer new products and ensure effective transition of people, knowledge, processes, and technology, where applicable.
- Oversee the Customer Service/Relation function of the organization, put in place key customer service matrices, and ensure that a high level of customer service is met.
- Responsible for the analysis of key financial and operational matrices of Business Development initiatives and work with key representatives from the functions to develop and implement action plans identified.
- Oversee and manage marketing activities and strategies aligned with all stakeholders (e.g., supplier/principals/sales).
- Oversee key process improvement projects identified (e.g., with suppliers/principals or within the company) and monitor key milestones.
- Staff Management & Development
- Identify the necessary skills sets required to meet business demands and ensure that recruitment, compensation, and retention strategies are aligned to meet requirements.
- Review the performances of direct reports to ensure that individual and organizational targets are met.
- Set and communicate performance targets for the staff to ensure alignment of the individual’s objectives to the corporate objectives.
Experience requirements
- At least 5 years of experience in business development, especially in the FMCG sector.
- Proven experience in developing and exploring new product categories/brands.
- In-depth understanding of the FMCG market and consumer trends.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and project management skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with other departments to achieve common goals.
- Experience in managing strategic partnerships and building long-term customer relationships.
- Fluent in English.
Education requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher, preferably in Business Administration, Marketing, or related fields.
