Job summary

Our client, a Japanese multinational IT company with a long history in the technology industry, is looking for a Product Manager/ Owner who develops ICT products for the Retail sector.

Job Responsibilities

  • Comprehensive Market Understanding: Demonstrates a deep comprehension of the market landscape, competitive landscape, and user needs. Aligns this understanding with the overarching product segment strategy to propose innovative product ideas and enhancements.
  • Analysis of Emerging Technologies: Assesses the feasibility of new technological product concepts within the context of the organization's strengths, production capabilities, quality standards, costs, and market demands. Takes the initiative to drive technological advancements across a range of products or specific features.
  • Strategic Business Planning: Develops tactical plans for a product line or range, keeping in mind the product division strategy. This includes formulating product pricing strategies and managing the product's lifecycle. Manages the business plan and collaborates on decisions related to sourcing components internally or externally.
  • Lifecycle Management Expertise: Constructs a comprehensive 'go to market' approach and oversees the product line or range's lifecycle management in line with the underlying product segment strategy. Supports inventory management and relevant service functions.
  • Definition of Product Requirements: Specifies product requirements encompassing features, time-to-market, costs, pricing, and profitability for a product line or range. Strategizes product development within the scope of the product line strategy.
  • Presales Support: Designs and tailors product demonstrations, Minimum Viable Products (MVPs), and Proof of Concept (POC) solutions. Provides assistance in presales activities when required.
  • Collaborative Cross-Functional Coordination: Orchestrates collaboration among various departments such as development, quality assurance, engineering, manufacturing, legal, finance, marketing, and sales to ensure successful product development and successful entry into the market.
  • Effective Documentation: Prepares comprehensive product descriptions and data to facilitate offering, logistics, manufacturing, and ongoing lifecycle management.
  • Sales and Marketing Assistance: Collaborates with product marketing to develop compelling product presentations for customers and events, including key user group meetings. Offers insights for advertisement materials used in customer-facing presentations and events. Provides support and potential leadership in Sales Enablement training. Facilitates competitive benchmarking activities to inform business development and sales efforts.



Experience requirements

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience within the retail industry, encompassing various segments, retailers, essential retail processes, market and shopper trends, as well as knowledge of ICT solutions and services.
  • At least 5 years of involvement in product or offering development.
  • Previous engagement in a multi-client organization.
  • Driven by a results-driven mindset, with a strong determination to excel in their chosen professional path.
  • Self-motivated and proactive, with a proactive approach to continuous learning.
  • Displaying enthusiasm and a positive attitude, possessing the confidence to motivate, engage, and establish connections across all levels of an organization.
  • Capable of thriving in an uncertain and adaptable environment.
  • Exhibiting robust leadership skills, collaborating effectively within teams, including those that are virtual.
  • Proficient in time management, consistently meeting set deadlines.
  • Familiarity with SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework).
  • Interest in and understanding of Innovation and Digital technologies.
  • Exceptional documentation abilities.
  • Skilled in English communication, both written and spoken.
  • Experience in collaborating with diverse regions, including ASEAN and APAC.
  • Comfortable operating within a dynamic environment where conventional approaches may not apply.
  • Commercially astute and possessing strong numerical skills.
  • Embracing a global perspective, demonstrating respect for and adaptability to various cultures.
