Job summary

The Senior Digital Product Owner (DPO) position involves close collaboration with the segment and product teams to create and oversee novel digital financial services offerings within Bank's digital assets. This entails assuming responsibility for the entire product development lifecycle, from conceptualization and customer research to design, development, launch, iteration, and support.

The ideal candidate should possess a strong commitment to addressing the requirements of individuals and businesses through a variety of banking products, combined with a profound understanding of the ways technology can enhance customers' daily lives.

Job Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders and the development scrum team to define and clarify business requirements.
  • Establish a vision and requirements for products and services based on customer needs and business objectives.
  • Hold accountability for driving project discovery and inception activities.
  • Outline the minimum viable product (MVP) for product launch, subsequent iterations, and long-term planning.
  • Lead agile delivery teams in prioritizing backlog items, contributing to user story creation, ensuring comprehension of the product backlog, managing the product roadmap on behalf of business stakeholders, and coordinating sprint planning alongside the scrum master.
  • Partner with UXD, marketing, analytics, and research teams to identify customer personas and segments, validate the MVP and product scope, and deepen understanding of customer needs, motivations, and behaviors to inform designs that enhance the customer experience.
  • Regularly engage with technical developers and programmers to comprehend technical implications, prioritize development tasks, and make decisions regarding technical direction.
  • Collaborate closely with business stakeholders (e.g., product managers, risk, compliance, legal, finance) to grasp business imperatives, engagement guidelines, expectations, risk analysis, and establish a strategic approach to product development.
  • Assume responsibility for consistent stakeholder engagement to ensure comprehension and agreement on project scope decisions, as well as addressing all their requirements.
  • Take ownership of ongoing support and maintenance matters, ensuring continuous service improvement and alignment with customer needs.
  • Formulate hypotheses to validate customer problems and define clear learning objectives that facilitate appropriate tagging and analytics coverage, influencing product roadmap and prioritization decisions.
  • Motivate and collaborate with a scrum team on a daily basis to advance user stories into production, actively participating in scrum ceremonies.
  • Continuously seek fresh, innovative ideas and technologies for integration into project delivery, effectively communicating with project stakeholders.
  • Actively participate in driving continuous improvement initiatives for the scrum team.
  • Hold accountability for maintaining high standards in the work outcomes delivered by the scrum team.
  • Proactively initiate metrics and effectiveness measurements for new features and enhancements.
  • Display the capability to guide the team in analyzing business requirements and empowering them to take greater ownership of these requirements.
  • Contribute expertise in products and business to the professional community.

Experience requirements

  • Preferably possess industry-related tertiary education along with Agile Product Owner credentials.
  • Certified Scrum Product Owner.
  • Alternatively, possess equivalent related work experience.
  • Demonstrated ability and experience in successfully managing projects to completion.
  • Experience working in an Agile delivery environment as a Digital Product Owner.
  • Proven aptitude for managing situations with uncertainty.
  • Experienced in crafting best practices and innovative customer experiences, fostering customer engagement, and driving product development.
  • Inherent interest in digital trends, staying up-to-date with the latest developments.
  • Experience in liaising between business stakeholders and technical development teams for delivering digital products and services.
  • Comfortable working across various domains in a fast-paced, collaborative, and dynamic environment.
  • Strong influence skills and a track record of effectively collaborating with challenging business stakeholders and technical teams to deliver digital products and services, while maintaining robust relationships.
  • Demonstrates solid business acumen and a preference for data-driven decisions aligned with business value.
  • Experience within the financial services industry is advantageous.
