Job summary

Our client, an international company specializing in Construction sector, is hiring Structural Director in Vietnam. This role will be based in Ho Chi Minh City & open for expatriates to apply.

Job Responsibilities

  • Take charge of the structural and civil design process for major infrastructure initiatives such as tunnels, bridges, and transport-related systems, ensuring effective documentation and modeling.
  • Guarantee deliverables meet top-tier quality standards and align smoothly with multidisciplinary project elements.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to a large team, cultivating a culture of high performance and continuous innovation.
  • Manage resource planning, task distribution, and capability development across the team.
  • Promote technical excellence through internal training programs and knowledge-sharing activities.
  • Oversee the planning, budgeting, and risk management for all assigned projects.
  • Ensure compliance with local and international regulations, delivering outcomes on schedule and within financial scope.
  • Foster and strengthen client relationships, ensuring service satisfaction and repeat engagements.
  • Act as the main point of contact for clients, handling communications, expectations, and issue resolution.
  • Collaborate closely with executive leadership to shape and accomplish long-term departmental strategies.
  • Identify and lead new business pursuits, including proposal development and market expansion efforts.
  • Oversee contract execution, commercial negotiations, and project profitability.
  • Contribute to long-term business strategy and market positioning efforts.
  • Encourage the use of BIM and digital tools, and stay current with emerging engineering technologies.
  • Implement process upgrades that drive productivity, quality, and sustainability.
  • Uphold health, safety, and environmental standards across all activities.

Experience requirements

  • At least 10 years of engineering experience with a focus on structural and civil design and documentation and posses leadership roles managing multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Solid background in complex infrastructure projects, including tunnels, bridges, and transit systems.
  • Familiarity with international project delivery environments such as Australia, the UK, and the EU.
  • Proficient in structural tools such as ETABS, SAP2000, STAAD.Pro, Robot, Revit, Tekla, AutoCAD.
  • Skilled in civil platforms like Civil 3D, 12D, AutoCAD.
  • BIM competency: Navisworks, BIM 360, Revizto, Trimble Connect.
  • Strong command of English for effective internal and external communication.
  • Expert-level understanding of global codes and standards (Eurocodes, AISC, ACI, BS, ASCE, AS).
  • Sound grasp of engineering practices, construction methods, and quality control measures.
  • Proven leadership of large amount of engineers across simultaneous projects.
  • Experience mentoring senior-level professionals and facilitating career advancement.
  • Competence in budget oversight, resource management, and schedule control.
  • Strong project management skills across multiple large-scale engineering engagements.
  • Capable of creating and managing detailed project timelines and budgets.
  • Skilled in multitasking across concurrent project scopes and objectives.
  • Demonstrated success in building long-term, trust-based client relationships.
  • Effective communicator with clients, leadership teams, and external partners.
  • Track record of achieving high client satisfaction and repeat business.
  • Proven experience in contract negotiation, proposal development, and winning new business.
  • Financial acumen in project profitability, cost control, and resource utilization.

Education requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or a related discipline); a Master’s degree in Engineering, Business, or Project Management is highly advantageous.
