Job Responsibilities

As Head of IT Project Management Office (PMO), you will spearhead organizational transformation by strategically aligning technology project execution with business goals, building a robust PMO to optimize resources, accelerate digital initiatives, and enhance agility. In tandem, the right candidate consistently establishes a comprehensive governance framework to ensure timely, budget-conscious project delivery, maximize business value, and seeks out continuous improvement aligned with strategic objectives.


Key Responsibilities


  • Monitoring daily operations, progress, and performance; managing escalations; and guaranteeing success across predetermined factors.
  • Controlling, monitoring, and reporting on a consolidated portfolio of projects, programs, and changes.
  • Proactively identifying and flagging emerging issues, collaborating with stakeholders for resolution, and ensuring adherence to timelines while communicating significant risks (timing, budget, scope) to executives.
  • Providing key variables, cost-benefit analyses, and risk assessments to the CTO and Tech Leaders for informed decision-making.
  • Identifying and addressing portfolio-level resourcing issues and risks requiring leadership attention.
  • Building a high-performing, collaborative environment, nurturing stakeholder partnerships, and ensuring effective communication and execution progress.
  • Partnering with Business and Tech leaders to establish and evolve PMO project intake, methodologies, best practices, processes, systems, and policies; defining and establishing the PMO's framework, standards, tools, methodologies, and playbooks.
  • Establishing robust KPIs and tracking reports to monitor team performance and drive improvements in customer service and project delivery.
  • Creating and maintaining project documentation, establishing necessary processes and procedures, and staying abreast of project management best practices.
  • Sponsoring and leading the adoption of tools and technologies to streamline and automate project and resource management.
  • Working with business partners and Tech to build the project roadmap for strategic and non-strategic projects, identifying key milestones and deliverables.
  • Recommending enhancements to applications or architecture to improve efficiency, performance, and reliability.

Experience requirements

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. An MBA is highly preferred.
  • Seven-plus years of experience in project management, with at least five years in a leadership role.
  • Experience leading and managing a team of project managers and/or business analysts.
  • Strong knowledge of project management methodologies, tools, and techniques, including hands-on experience with Waterfall, Iterative, and Agile methodologies.
  • Proven results related to driving organisational and cultural change focused on improving the overall delivery approach and capabilities of an organisation.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with senior leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Strong financial, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • In possession of a PMP certification is preferred.
  • Proven ability to drive transformational change within an organisation.
  • Demonstrated understanding of software development life cycle models.
  • Sufficient level of technical background to provide highly credible leadership to the PMO team and to be able to evaluate complex project risks and issues accurately and objectively.
  • Creative approach to problem-solving, with the ability to focus on details while maintaining the "big picture" view. 
  • Essential business skills in technology, cross-functional understanding, and process comprehension are a prerequisite
  • Comprehensive IT knowledge, including architecture, governance, security, data management, cloud computing, and e-commerce.
  • Software Development and document lifecycle management experience (agile and classic methodologies). • Strong data analysis, exploitation, and business intelligence (BI) skills - a data-driven decision making professional.
  • Proven ability to manage projects, drive change, and facilitate organisational development.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and a commitment to quality assurance.
  • Dedication to high service standards and excellent communication with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage priorities, and adapt to flexible schedules and travel.
  • Capable of working independently and collaboratively to achieve team goals.
  • Proactive in seeking improvements and cost reductions.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office applications and adaptable to company specific systems.
  • Personal alignment with company's purpose and values.
