Clinical Diagnostics Director

Job summary

This role will lead and manage the laboratory department to ensure high-quality, accurate, and timely lab services. Oversee staff, equipment, and processes to maintain compliance and support continuous improvement.

Job Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and day-to-day leadership for the lab team.
• Create and enforce policies to meet regulatory and accreditation standards.
• Maintain quality control systems to ensure accurate test results.
• Recruit, train, and evaluate lab staff, promoting growth and accountability.
• Ensure lab equipment is properly maintained and stocked.
• Work with doctors and healthcare teams on test selection and result interpretation.
• Monitor lab performance and implement improvements.
• Stay updated on lab technology and recommend upgrades as needed.
• Promote a safe and compliant work environment.
• Manage the lab budget, including planning and cost control.
• Collaborate with other departments to support the organization's goals.

Experience requirements

• At least 5 years of leadership experience in a clinical lab setting, with solid knowledge of lab operations, regulations, and quality systems.
• Strong understanding of lab testing methods, quality control, and proficiency testing.
• Proven leadership skills and experience managing high-performing lab teams.
• Familiar with lab information systems (LIS) and related software.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to work well with various teams and stakeholders.

Education requirements

• Doctorate in a relevant field (e.g., Clinical Lab Science, Biochemistry, Microbiology) or a Medical Doctor (MD); a Master’s in Healthcare Administration or an MBA is a plus.
