Job summary
The Corporate Affairs Department strives to position the company as a trusted partner by working with key stakeholders to:
- Advocate for policies that promote sustainable healthcare development in Vietnam and create a stable environment for the company.
- Enhance healthcare delivery and patient outcomes in areas like obesity, diabetes, and chronic diseases.
- Improve access to the company’s innovations through market access strategies.
- Build partnerships to support local healthcare systems and vulnerable populations.
- Increase public awareness and advance the company’s external communication goals.
Job Responsibilities
Corporate Affairs, Communications, and Sustainability
- Represent the company at key external events, which may include government or industry-related activities.
- Proactively identify potential business threats and opportunities and develop corresponding action and communication plans, including crisis communications.
- Lead and drive the implementation of the external communication strategy, supporting the company’s corporate and therapy area objectives.
- Oversee external communications channels and work with APAC Corporate Affairs and the Vietnam communications team to manage media engagement and share coverage.
- Lead media training and coaching for key spokespeople in Vietnam and oversee the implementation of global communication programs across the organization in line with business needs.
- Lead the Driving Change strategy and program implementation across the business unit and management team.
Market & Patient Access
- Design and implement local cross-functional market access and value communication strategies in full alignment with strategic priorities, to enhance inclusion and sustainable access to the in-line and pipeline portfolio.
- Spearhead initiatives to improve access to care for patients in vulnerable populations.
Government Affairs
- Prepare, advise on, and execute government affairs strategy and stakeholder engagement plans.
- Proactively anticipate, mitigate, and implement proactive solutions for external affairs issues that may pose short- and long-term challenges for the company and the therapy areas in which we operate.
- Develop and maintain appropriate information gathering on all competitive activities and healthcare reform trends, ensuring communication of these to relevant stakeholders within the organization.
Policy & Advocacy
- Shape the local market environment by working with a range of stakeholders, including national/regional payers, KOLs, policy holders, and media.
- Develop sustainable, long-term alliances and mutually beneficial coalitions that operate independently of the company, including industry, academia, KOLs, and payers, to shape our environment.
- Promote portfolio thinking and identify synergies between therapy areas to optimize policy opportunities; responsible for establishing Value at Stake analysis, and prioritizing external issues and opportunities.
- Build an internal environment where partnerships with external stakeholders are expected and valued to achieve strategic goals; ensure that the importance of the patient voice in external discussions is understood internally.
- Identify and share best practices from other countries, therapy areas, and industries.
- Monitor external trends, identify risks and opportunities, and recommend strategic response actions to assist patient access and public affairs goals, as well as develop and sustain collaborations and partnerships with Southeast Asia (BASEA) and critical functional areas within the affiliate (Marketing, Sales, Clinical, Medical & Regulatory).
Member of the Leadership Team
- Serve as an integral member of the leadership team, role model the company’s values, and collaborate effectively cross-functionally to drive the affiliate's mid- to long-term strategy.
- Keep patients and customers at the forefront, exhibit a growth mindset, strive for ambitious results, drive accountability, and ensure collaboration at all levels.
- Create a 3-5-year strategic corporate affairs plan for the affiliate that aligns functional objectives with affiliate, regional, and global direction. Provide strategic counsel to the executive leadership team on communication matters and reputation management.
- Act as a strategic advisor to the Leadership Team on policy issues related to the current and future portfolio; identify initiatives from other affiliates and Business Areas that could contribute to the affiliate’s development. Set standards in the local affiliate by challenging and contributing to the Management Team and/or Cross-functional/therapy teams.
- Be passionate about developing the team of direct reports by setting annual objectives, providing coaching, recognition, and career development support.
Experience requirements
- At least 10-15 years of experience in market access, corporate affairs, communication, and public affairs, with a demonstrated track record of success; A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in people management is preferred.
- Experience in Business Units (sales, marketing, market development, national key accounts) is a plus.
- Strong and established networks with relevant government institutions are an advantage.
- Required experience in global pharmaceutical and/or multinational companies.
- A degree in public administration, social policy, business administration, communications, or life sciences is preferred.
- A thorough understanding of the corporate and healthcare system, including its policies, key stakeholders, and opinion leaders, is essential.
- Proven ability to analyze, provide recommendations, lead, and execute cross-functional strategies, projects, and initiatives.
Education requirements
- A degree in public administration, social policy, business administration, communications, or life sciences is preferred.
